Tools: Establishing LinkedIn engineering best practices as a reference for a delightful experience for rapidly developing, testing, and deploying code to production, enabling LinkedIn to scale its engineering team

Search, Network and Analytics: Building highly scalable, highly performant social graph engines, state-of-the-art full-text search engines, and platforms for applied data analytics.

Data Infrastructure: Building the next-generation data services, including storage, streams, media and analytics platforms. Bring your experience in distributed technologies and algorithms and a strong systems orientation (multi-threading, concurrency, scalability, performance) and help scale LinkedIn infrastructure to handle massive data growth.

Site Reliability

Site reliability combines multiple disciplines of software engineering, capacity planning, and systems design toward the business goal of ensuring that the linkedin.com website is continuously available and performing well for our members. This is achieved via three major venues:

  1. Close interaction with software engineers throughout the company to design and implement the LinkedIn technology stack to ensure that services are designed to be scalable, reliable, easy to monitor for faults and repair. 
  2. Serving as a bridge between software engineering and our teams in LinkedIn which maintain and operate our systems and data center infrastructure.
  3. Developing systems automation, monitoring, fault detection and mitigation systems

Web Development

Web Developers work on applications that run in the browser. They typically focus on technologies like Javascript, CSS and HTML for creating application user experiences as well as server-side technologies to provide data to the applications. Web developers work closely with Designers and User Researchers to make sure that our users get the most delightful experience of our products on the Web. Challenges web developers work on include accessibility, security, performance and making the user interface work in a wide variety of languages.

Data Science

We use big data to power LinkedIn in so many ways, whether in building our products or making educated business solutions. Some of the teams that engage in Data Science include:

Business Analytics: This award-winning innovative analytics team is rapidly reinventing the way data analysis can be leveraged in our data-centric world and empower our business partners with analytics at scale to grow LinkedIn.

Consumer Analytics: Consumer Analytics uses data to ensure the member gets the best experience on LinkedIn. We figure out how to measure what the member wants and build experiments to discover how to best deliver that value.

Security: Defending LinkedIn against all known forms of malice and abuse while constantly looking out for new ones

Product Management

Product managers play a critical role in building the next generation of LinkedIn’s products. Through strong cross-functional team leadership and deep technical knowledge, you’ll be at the center of enriching the professional experience of LinkedIn users and professionals around the world.
